The Actual "About Me"

After memorizing a billion medical terms Sia decided to forget the idea of medicine all together and packed up from MAMC.  That was the best decision she has ever taken.  

Soul searching brought here to Mumbai and that was it. In pursuit of 'not too difficult' undergrad courses, she ended up in communication studies and landed an internship in Ogilvy for copywriting. And very unknowingly she seemed to have laid the first pave stone to a career very far away from medicine and into the world of film production. 

Sifting through the various departments in Ad agencies, she settled in the films department with a short stint in Saatchi & Saatchi and a long one in Publicis Capital.

While at Publicis, she got an offer to join Equinox Films as an associate producer. From then on, there was no turning back. At Equinox she found home.

Armed with the ability to stay awake for over 30 hours flat and burning passion to transform written words to live shots, she went from being an Associate to a Producer and produced commercials in all ranges of timelines & budgets with a bouquet of Indian & international directors. Including several winners like Intel Dharavi & DBS Chilli Paneer 2. She marks these years in Equinox as her awakening. She is forever grateful to the team & opportunities that came her way in Equinox but like every good thing, time eventually came to move on.

Next was Ransom Films aka Flying Pigs Production. Here she was introduced to a world of truly global ad film production. With veterans like Salil Khurana, Bharat Sikka & Shimit Amin to associate with & crews that came in from all over the world, Sia got the opportunity to get associated with brands like Chloe & Facebook. 

That too was not enough. Nothing ever is. So she took a deep breath and dived into long formats. This stint began with Excel Entertainment’s Gold. Although the first taste of blood was a short bit on Ram Madhvani’s Neerja, Reema Kagti’s Gold’s tiny patchwork schedule actually marks the beginning of this road. With seasoned EP’s like Shivani Saran & Seher Latif to guide the way, she embraced this world with open arms. Immediately following it through with a 9-episode series for Amazon called Gormint directed by the ad film veteran Ayappa. Following that through with Ram Madhvani Films’ company opener – Aarya. Another 9-episode series for Hotstar directed by 3 directors – Ram Madhvani himself, the award winning director of Chumbak – Sandeep Modi and first time director – Vinod Rawat. 

A post graduate in English Literature & Film Production, Sia today freelances as a producer / line producer for all formats of films & content creation.

Born in Dibrugarh, Assam and brought up in a boarding school in Ooty, whenever Sia is not working (hah!), she is either organizing her already organized cupboard, sleeping, traveling or dreaming about where the next flight is going to take her while reorganizing that cupboard yet again.
